Сбор информации о нарушениях осуществляется наблюдателями (студентами, преподавателями, администрацией ВУЗа) в своих ВУЗах, а также посредством получения информации из СМИ или прямых сообщений на почтовый ящик Мониторинга. После получения информации о случае нарушения академических свобод, информация проверяется и уточняется организаторами Мониторинга, после чего передается Экспертной группе, состоящей из юристов и экспертов в области образования, которая рассматривает и квалифицирует каждый отдельный случай.
